In his new book, Mémé's Famous Crêpes, Theodore A. Perry (a.k.a. Tony Perry) tells the endearing story about his mémé's crêpes, and how making them with her is one of his fondest childhood memories. Mémé (pronounced may-may) and crêpes are French Canadian words for grandmother and pancakes, and in these pages the whole family can delight in an amusing and sweet story, in both English and French! Cuddle up with your little ones and (re-)learn some French together, and while you're at it, enjoy the whimsical and fun watercolor-collage illustrations by artist Tone Flavin. You will soon feel inspired to make crêpes, and to help you get going, there's an easy-to-follow recipe included at the end of the book.

Bon appétit!

In this second volume, Tony Perry continues and expands on his earlier collection, State of Maine State of Mind: Upcountry Humor and Stories. This follow-up volume offers a deeper conversation with Huck Colby, an unassuming, uneducated, and common old-timer from upcountry. For the sages of old were not mistaken in their advice: "If you seek wisdom, go to the common people."

This book is a delightful compilation of stories as told by "old" Huck Colby. Combining Maine humor with a gritty wit, Perry brings laughter to your life. Enjoy Huck's take on credit cards, visitor's "from away," and newfangled technology. Buy it to read at camp, on the beach, or just during the middle of the day when you need a laugh. You'll be glad you did! Wherever you hail from, the Maine state of mind can become yours.

About the Author

Theodore A. Perry hails from upcountry Maine and lives in the Midcoast area. He holds a B.A. summa cum laude from Bowdoin College, an M.A. in French and a Ph.D. in Romance Studies both from Yale University. HE has published thirteen books on literature and philosophy, and he loves collecting yarns for his ongoing "Perry Home Companion." When Perry is not at his desk writing away, you can find him in the garden, tending, or conversing with, his tomatoes. If it's winter, he'll be at work planning next season's gardening activities.

In The Press

All the stories in this book are more like short anecdotes, most under a page long. But they pack a punch and the profundity of some stay with you long after you finish it. I love that I can pick it up, read a few, and get back to it when I feel like it. It's that kind of book. Easy on the eyes, and good for the soul.

Great gift idea for anyone who loves the good Maine life or anyone you think should discover it!
